La acupuntura y la transferencia de embriones

 Fertility and Sterility, la publicación oficial de la Sociedad Americana de Medicina Reproductiva publica artículos jurados de excelencia científica en investigación clínica y de laboratorio sobre endocrinología y fisiología reproductiva.Los estudios a continuación han aparecido en la revista Fertility and Sterility. 
 Once de ellos encontraron que la acupuntura realizada cerca de la hora de la transferencia de embriones  mejoraba las tasas de embarazo. Cuatro no informaron  sobre ningún efecto, y se encontró un efecto negativo (que se atribuyó a que los pacientes tenían que atravesar la ciudad después de la transferencia de embriones para llegar a la clínica de acupuntura). Más estudios se están llevando a cabo para investigar el mecanismo que hay detrás del efecto de la acupuntura en la implantación del embrión.Si hay alguna conclusión provisional que se puede realizar en esta etapa de las investigaciones es que la acupuntura parece conferir una ventaja a los grupos de los ensayos clínicos de los que se espera una tasa de embarazo de alrededor del 35% o menos. En los casos que se prevee una tasa de posibilidad de embarazo del 50 - 60% entonces la acupuntura aplicada en el momento de la transferencia de embriones puede no ser de tanta ayuda como en los otros casos.
